Reopening of Photo Elysée: a renewed museum project

629 days after its closure to prepare its move to Platform 10, Photo Elysée will reopen its doors to the public on Saturday 18 and 19 June 2022 during a festive inaugural weekend. An institution resolutely open to all photography, Photo Elysée offers a boldly redesigned museum.

Opening of the arts district Plateforme 10 and inauguration of the new mudac and Photo Elysée

The new building that is now home to Photo Elysée and mudac is inaugurating its exhibition spaces in June 2022, enabling them to deploy their museum activities and move on to a new stage in their development. Together with the MCBA, they present an exhibition theme in common devoted to the imagery inspired by railroads and train stations. Plateforme 10 is now a cultural hub that cannot be overlooked, making the City of Lausanne definitively the capital of culture for French-speaking Switzerland.

Nathalie Herschdorfer is the New Director of Photo Elysée

A curator, art and photography historian, Nathalie Herschdorfer is appointed Director of Photo Elysée by the Plateforme 10 Foundation. She will take on the position starting June 1, 2022, after being the Director of the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Le Locle, Switzerland since 2014. She is very well acquainted with our institution as she worked for the museum for over ten years as curator and exhibition director (from 1998 to 2010).

Her in depth knowledge of photography and her experience in museum management as well as her national and international cultural network convinced the selection jury which reviewed over 50 applications and auditioned five high level candidates from Switzerland and abroad. Her strategic thinking, as well as her ideas for the further development of our museum in close cooperation with the teams of Plateforme 10 and the two other museums particularly convinced the jury.
