Jacques Henri Lartigue. Life in color - Summerclass

About Jacques Henri Lartigue

Lydia Dorner, co-curator of the exhibition Jacques Henri Lartigue: Life in Color, reveals some secrets to us.

Video

The exhibition Jacques Henri Lartigue: Life in Color unveils a previously unseen part of the work of the French photographer (1894-1986) in Switzerland. While color is ubiquitous in the albums he compiled throughout his life, it was never shown or exhibited as such during his lifetime. Following an exhibition dedicated to his black and white photographs in 1986, Photo Elysée wished to collaborate once again with the Lartigue Donation to revisit the exhibition curated by Martine d'Astier and Martine Ravache. Presented in France in 2015, it has since been traveling under the auspices of diChroma photography. The Lausanne version of this project includes unpublished works with the ambition of highlighting the artist's enduring connection between his notes, drawings, and photographs.

Exhibition

The exhibition Jacques Henri Lartigue: Life in Color was presented at Photo Elysée from May 30 to September 23, 2018.
