Open-access space

The Photo Elysée Workshop is a space dedicated to creation aimed at raising public awareness through a program of activities revolving around various photographic practices. Whether it's composition work, shooting, cyanotype, or experimental processes, the workshops offer you the opportunity to explore photography while having fun.

The workshop is also a space occupied by artists and photographers. Following the rhythm of temporary exhibitions, the workshop hosts artistic installations that speak to us about photography, designed to inspire cultural mediation activities and for the public to enjoy freely.

Whether with family, friends, as a couple, or alone, everyone discovers photography from a new perspective – one that is immersive, interactive, and playful.

Thomas Mailaender

Inclusions is a collection of furniture and contemporary design classics that Thomas Mailaender has revisited by using images that would otherwise have been thrown away. These photographs, documents, and bits of rubbish that were found at flea markets or simply lying on the ground, are set in resin and then incorporated into the furniture. The French artist thus replaces, for example, the surface of the famous Le Corbusier LC6 table, the seats of the iconic Ikea stools, and integrates these pieces of synthetic material into the wood of a Poul Kjærholm table.

A kind of fossil, forever associating images that have been abandoned and were doomed to disappear, each piece of resin encapsulates a memory. So many lost stories that hope to find a new path in our imagination, to foster dialogue and reflection.

Commissioned by the museum, this intriguing and iconoclastic installation has been specially created for the new education space. It is designed to be used and to prompt discussion on photography and the importance of images in our lives. Without creating any new images, Mailaender plays with the ones he finds and collects. He (re)gives them form through these everyday objects and invites us to make connections.

Beyond the walls

In order to bring art and culture to as many people as possible, Photo Elysée is developing a range of tools and educational projects to reach out to audiences who can't or don't usually visit museums.

Photomobile

Photography at your doorstep!

The Photomobile reaches out to audiences who are unable or unaccustomed to visiting the museum. It offers studio sessions led by professional photographers. People supported by socio-cultural institutions in the Canton of Vaud are invited to take part.
