Santiago Martinez Benedetti: the art of working with limitations

Santiago Martinez Benedetti is a Swiss-Colombian artist and photographer whose practice explores the materiality of photography through experimental image-making. By transforming reproduction technologies into creative tools, he challenges conventional ways of making, reproducing, and experiencing images, while embracing the possibilities of technical constraints. We talked about BMX culture, DIY publishing, laser printers, and why working with limitations can open up unexpected ways of seeing.

Santiago Martinez Benedetti has been invited by Photo Elysée to the Fondation Fiminco near Paris as part of the Talents! residency program, in partnership with Plateforme 10. In 2026, he was nominated by Photo Elysée for FUTURES Photography.
