Photo Elysée at the Rencontres d'Arles 2026

Photo Elysée is presenting two exhibitions at the Rencontres de la Photographie d'Arles, from July 6 to October 4, 2026!

Animal Model

200 Years of Photography

La Mécanique générale

Animal Model explores two centuries of photography through the presence of animals in images. The exhibition shows how photographers have observed, celebrated, staged, or questioned our relationship with living creatures. From scientific images to contemporary works, it examines how photography influences the way we love, exploit, or defend animals.

L is for Look

Children’s Photobooks

Espace Van Gogh

L is for Look explores the history of children’s photo books, from the 1930s to the present. Through some 100 international titles, the exhibition shows how photography has accompanied the evolution of educational methods, perspectives on children, and publishing practices. Designed for visitors of all ages, the exhibition also features books available for browsing and interactive experiences.

Alfredo Jaar, winner of the 11th Pictet Prize

Chilean artist, architect and filmmaker Alfredo Jaar, whose politically engaged work explores images, memory and the urgencies of the contemporary world, will be honored at the Théâtre Antique as the recipient of the 11th Prix Pictet for The End, his series devoted to Utah’s Great Salt Lake. Appearing alone on stage, Jaar reflects on this series before turning to more recent projects that extend beyond photography into a powerful reflection on ecology, perception and the power of images.

His exhibition, Inferno & Paradiso, is on view through November 1 at Photo Elysée.
