Impressions en continu

18.11.2009 – 21.02.2010

Gerhard Steidl, whom Le Monde has nicknamed “the haute-couture editor”, is indisputably one of the greatest editors of photography books today. His publishing house is also the most prolific in the world: one book per day leaves “Steidlville”, in Göttingen, his home-town in Germany. From New York to Beijing, from Los Angeles to New Dehli, the excellent reputation of Steidl’s books comes from their quality, which characterises each step of their production. Indeed, the editor and the printer considers his books as precious objects oscillating between high technology and crafts.

Famous photographers, such as Lewis Baltz, Raymond Depardon, Jim Dine, Robert Frank, Roni Horn, Karl Lagerfeld, Ed Ruscha, Jürgen Teller or Deborah Turbeville, collaborate with Steidl in a fertile synergy, which “Impressions en continu” wishes to celebrate. The exhibition is an invitation to discover, leaf through, feel and touch today’s most beautiful photography books.
