The secrets of the papet vaudois revealed by Romain Mader

It's an invitation to understand where the ingredients come from.

Photographer Romain Mader returned to his hometown of Aigle to document the step-by-step preparation of papet vaudois, an iconic dish from his childhood that his grandmother used to cook for him.

His project is a visual narrative based on an advance script, with each photograph illustrating a part of the story. Immersed among farmers, breeders, and butchers, Mader documents the local expertise that makes this traditional dish possible.

Through this work, the artist explores memory, culinary traditions, and the transmission of regional heritage while revealing the gestures that connect land, people, and table.
