Olga Cafiero: translating the stars into images

I realized that the almanac is not just something you read, but something you read aloud.

Photographer Olga Cafiero immersed herself in the almanac Le Messager boiteux, a popular publication dating back to 1707 that combines astrological predictions, historical accounts, and practical advice.

Through this project, the artist explores the persistence of beliefs and superstitions in a world dominated by science. Through encounters, research, and visual experiments, she subverts the codes of photography—from weather probes equipped with GoPro cameras to astronomical images transformed into sound material—to question our relationship to knowledge, time, and collective narratives.
