Giles Duley

Giles Duley was born in London in 1971. Photographer, writer, chef and presenter, he is the founder and Managing Director of the Legacy of War Foundation. His work focuses on the long-term humanitarian impact of conflict.

After an early career spent photographing musicians, Giles Duley changed his focus in 2004 to documentary work. His work has taken him to the four corners of the globe, including Iraq, Afghanistan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola and Ukraine. In 2011, while accompanying the 75th US Cavalry Regiment on foot in Afghanistan, Duley stepped on an improvised explosive device. Severely wounded, he lost both legs and his left arm. Despite his injuries, Duley continues to document the long-term impact of conflict.

The exhibition Objets de Mort, comprising 20 large-format photographs presented outdoors on the esplanade of Plateforme 10, is, in Giles Duley's view, a testimony and a warning about the role of the military-industrial complex in the tragedy of anti-personnel mines.
