Cultural Outreach

Photo Elysée ensures that its exhibitions and collections are accessible for as many people as possible thanks to a cultural education department that is preparing its events and activities in a welcoming open-plan area for discussions, learning and discovery, open to everyone regardless of age.

Two areas are entirely devoted to cultural education, the Studio and the Workshop. As a family, with friends, as a couple or alone, everyone can explore photography from a new angle in an immersive, interactive and enjoyable experience.

For each exhibition, Photo Elysée will also be multiplying the kinds of cultural education it offers with a unique and surprising programme with guided tours that are traditional yet slightly unconventional, mobile Education Department representatives, concerts, performances and masterclasses. The diversity of the programmed activities caters for the general public, whether connoisseurs or amateurs of photography and culture.

Cultural outreach offers

Photomobile Elysée

Photography comes to you!
During our temporary closure due to our move to Plateforme 10, we are visiting schools and specialized institutions in the canton of Vaud, offering free educational workshops on photography and the museum’s collections.

Chaplin in history

A group activity to bring to your classes!
Thanks to a selection of photographs taken from two classic films by the famous filmmaker of Modern Times (1936) and The Dictator (1940), this activity focuses on the discovery of the different professions that animate Photo Elysée, and on how a temporary exhibition is developed.

Art for All: Photographs to Touch

For a tactile approach to photography
Around thirty important works from the Museum’s collections have been transcribed into tactile images and posted online, making them accessible to visually impaired audiences worldwide.

As part of its mission to open to all kinds of visitors, Photo Elysée aims to promote obstacle-free participation in cultural life for people with and without disabilities.

To this end, the museum is carrying out projects involving accessibility, making it part of its everyday life. Photo Elysée can thus guarantee that all the various audiences can enjoy an adapted cultural offer and access all the content, the building, job offers and various communication tools.

Plateforme 10 museums have been awarded the Culture inclusive label.

The outreach activities are generously supported by the Federal Office of Culture (FOC).
