I find these photographic surveys fascinating because they give you a chance to study subjects that you wouldn't otherwise have considered.
Photographer Thomas Brasey delved into the myth of the Brigands of Jorat, a legend deeply rooted in the heritage of the canton of Vaud, through the Nouvelle Compagnie des Brigands du Jorat.
In this series, he offers an immersion into the Jorat landscape, where past and present merge. From dawn to dusk, the brigands gradually emerge, embodying a latent threat, accentuated by the heavy atmosphere of the images and the swirls of red smoke.
Through this work, the artist questions the power of collective narratives, their transmission, and their contemporary staging.
